When I was really small, I moved to New Jersey with my human. There was a lovely little biking and running path that runs along the Delaware River, and in an attempt to bring me along on her bike rides, my human tried teaching me to sit in a front basket. It was way too scary and I jumped out on the first attempt. Cautiously but undeterred, the human tried a front-loaded backpack.
Then my human got her first touring bike, complete with a rear bike rack, and I knew she hoped to bring me along to get some fresh air and enjoy the thrill of being on a bicycle. And really, this seemed preferable to couch naps and squeaker toys.
My first vehicle was made for airplane travel that had both wheels and an extendable handle, but it also had backpack straps. So I rode backpack style with a seatbelt strap inside the carrier.
I liked it quite a bit.
After realizing that too many miles with a growing pup was a bit tough on her back, the carrier was safely secured to the bicycle’s rear rack. Stylin in my red convertible.
And I began to make a lot of friends!
From there, a more lightweight, aerodynamic carrier was secured, and my orange dog pod will carry me on many journeys to come!
